All kids love to build forts or secret hiding places.
Show your children how to create a retreat outdoors for fairies to visit and
build a fairy house or maybe a boat. See
http://www.fairyhouses.com/home.html for some cool ideas. Build your
children’s imagination and help them bond with nature.
What you need:
- A quiet place such as the base of a tree or side of
a rock.
- Twigs, pebbles, leaves, pinecones, feathers…
anything found in nature.
What you do:
- Use the found materials to create a small shelter
for fairies.
- Stack twigs, branches or bark
- Decorate with pinecones, leaves, feathers etc…
What you can talk about:
- Have your child close his/her eyes and imagine what
the fairies might do in the shelter or boat. Would they cook meals? Have a
party?
- Discuss materials that could be used to build fairy
houses in different places. What could you use to make a fairy house at
the beach, in the mountains, on a meadow? How are these environments
different? The same?
